This winter, the Trinity Music Committee is asking for the support of the public and the congregation to help raise funds for a new organ console. The present console is in urgent need of repair, and so the search began for a "new to us" console. We are fortunate to have found a Casavant organ console that will fit our needs. Fund raising began with a Service of Readings and Carols in November, a Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper on February 16, a Jazz concert on March 7—and more. Please check our calendar or events for details of future events, and thank you in advance for your donations.

On October 15, 2009 a new cruise line visited Digby. Trinity Anglican Church was opened for tours and special guest ADMIRAL DIGBY (Greg Turner) escorted tourists to the church. This opened up a lot of possible visitors on future tours. Visitors to the church were treated to a special concert by the Fundy Chorale, a local coral group.

In September 2009, Trinity was blessed with the addition of Mr. Douglas Hales as our new organist and musical director. Since then he has been working to build the choir and congregation through his music ministry. Doug has been instrumental in forming a Music Committee to enhance our Trinity program.

A Strawberry Tea and Sale was held on July 11, 2009. The crowds were treated to a generous portion of Strawberry shortcake, sandwiches and refreshments. A silent auction was one of the highlights of the day as well as a bountiful bake sale table.

On May 17th, 2009 The Right Rev. Ron Cutler officiated at the Sunday Service in the Parish of Digby-Weymouth. The service was not only a celebration of Holy Eucharist, but also a celebration of confirmation for Christopher Hiltz of Greenwood. In addition, Bishop Ron "vested" six new Lay Readers: Helen Boniface, Jeannie Nielson, Laura Robicheau and Sherry Titus, all of Trinity Anglican Church in Digby; Juanita Peters of St. Matthew, Weymouth Falls; and Barry Faulkner of St. Thomas and St.Peter in Weymouth North.
Postulant Tammy Hodge, who is working under the guidance of parish rector, The Rev. William Burt, for the summer, provided an enjoyable talk for the children.
It was a joyful occasion, which continued over in the hall with lunch and conversation.

For All Souls we will be having a Memory Tree. It has been placed in the church and we can give a donation for an ornament to be placed on the tree in memory of your loved ones that have passed. The ornaments are beautifully crafted stained glass pieces donated by Celia Winchester Anderson in loving memory of her parents Arthur and Laura Winchester and her grandparents Stewart and Celia Winchester and James and Mary Thibeau. There will be an All Souls Service Sunday November 3 at 7:00pm where all the names will be read .

Our new idea for Sunday School is to have the 6 years and up children participate in a new Sunday school format. The children will be taking part in the services of Trinity church weekly. They will be called TEAM TRINITY and will each have a new polo shirt to wear every Sunday. They will sit together in their own pews in church and will be scheduled into the service. Some will be church greeters while others will do readings, carry the cross and take part in the communion. Once a month the Sunday Service will be youth centered, where we learn a new children's hymn, and the majority of the service will be done by Team Trinity. This is an interesting new approach for our youth and we are looking forward to their first service.

Our new Sunday school floor is complete. The fund raising committee is now working towards new basement windows for the church. This will help considerably with the heating of the church. To contribute you can make your cheque payable to Fund Raising committee direct, or use the "Donate Now" button at the bottom of this page to donate online.

This year's Loyalist activities were a lot of fun and a big success for all who took part. After months of planning and preparation, the trade show at the Pines Hotel launched an eventful weekend for hundreds of Loyalist descendants. Trinity Anglican Church took part in the trade show as our church was one of the first churches in Digby during Loyalist times. On Friday a Loyalist tea was held. All of the Trinity workers and servers were in period dress, which added to the tea. Many of the people enjoying the tea also came in Loyalist dress. Church and graveyard tours were enjoyed by many travellers. Thanks to Doreen, Adam, Greg and Sam for helping with that. The Sunday service was led by the children singing, " This Little Light Of Mine," as they processed. The service was well attended and enjoyed by all. Thanks to Father Bill for the special Loyalist service and shortened sermon. In all the weekend was a huge success, with special thanks going to Maxine Connell and all her many helpers who made it happen.

Sunday School is over for this year. We had a successful year and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Kathy, Anita, Kelly T., and Debbie for teaching this past year. We had our closing party at the Lifeplex and everyone enjoyed swimming and spending time together. We will be back together in September. If anyone is interested in helping or has a child wishing to attend Sunday school, please or call her at 245-6903.
Even though Sunday School is over for the summer, it is a good opportunity for children to experience a full church service. Please be sure to bring your child to a service over the summer, so they can experience an entire service. A special thank you goes out to our Sunday school co-ordinator Kelly Connell and all of our teachers. It has been an excellent year.
Thanks again,
Trinity Council
