New Pipe Organ Project

Once we became aware that our old pipe organ was in such poor condition that it needed to be replaced, we began a search for a "new to us" instrument. We immediately began to raise funds for this ambitious but essential project. Fortunately, we found a suitable replacement organ at the Ettinger Funeral Home in Shubenacadie. Through generosity of community donors and the efforts of volunteers who have organized many successful fundraising events, we are ever closer to being able to enjoy the sounds of the new instrument. We have completed the first two of the three phases necessary to get the organ "up and running" but require additional funds to finish the project. If you are able to make a donation to help out, please visit the website of our donations facilitator, CanadaHelps.org. Thank you!

Phase One—Dismantle and Move

The Casavant organ was purchased from Ettinger Funeral Home and a team went on April 12, 2010 to dismantle and and move the organ. It was a big task that took two days and a 26 foot U-Haul. Our team of 5 worked long hours loading pipes and then headed to Digby. Please see the photos, below.

Phase Two—Console Installation

The Casavant Console was installed on May 3 - 6, 2010. It took Peninsula Organs four days to rewire the new console and put it in place. The console is now in place and operating. The fund raising still continues to enable us to complete phase three. Phase three will be the pipe installation. It will take $10,000 to complete this as we will need another blower to accommodate the increased size. We thank those who have donated so far. The project continues.

Phase Three—Installation of Pipes

We are still raising the funds which will allow us to complete this phase and make our "new to us" instrument operational. Please see the Announcements page for some of the events we have organized so far.
