The Hamilton Spectator Letters Policy
We welcome letters to the editors. They should be brief and must bear the writer's name, address, and daytime telephone number for verification. Note that Dundas is referred to as "Ward 13"; our representative on Hamilton's city council is Russ Powers. Mr. Powers has stated that he is fully in favour of de-amalgamation. It shouldn't be necessary to write him in order to convince him. However, please send him a copy of any correspondence so that he is able to effectively defend and promote the issue.
Mr. Robert E. (Bob) Wade is the mayor of Hamilton. Although he is a former mayor of Ancaster and still lives there, he recently voted against two key de-amalgamation motions made at city council. Mayor Wade has stated that he will not stand for re-election in November, 2003.
One of the front runners to replace Mr. Wade as mayor of Hamilton is David Christopherson. Mr. Christopherson is currently the MPP (NDP) for Hamilton-West.
